With 136 consignments and 20 quality stallions presented, the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Morgan
Horse Sale turned up the heat in the cold Pennsylvania weather on January 20-21 in Harrisburg,
at the beautiful and toasty warm PA Farm Complex.
Enjoying a sale average of $6,500 per head, with the top ten horses selling for an average
of $18,270, bidders were busy working to insure they didn’t leave empty handed. Topping the
sale was the beautiful four-year-old black stallion Lilleys Black Magic (Man In Black GCH x
R’Surene Kassandra). This impressive young Morgan stallion commanded a top bid of $61,000
and was consigned by his breeder, Marcelene Lilley, and beautifully prepared and presented by
Amos Smoker at Starlight Equine.
Another young black stallion with attention-grabbing white trim brought a high bid of
$27,000 and was consigned by Benuel and Henry King. KES Brandon (White Splash x Triple
Pines Morgana), a five-year-old, was also a pre-sale celebrity with some quality foals already on
the ground.
Rounding out the top five sold horses were the beautiful three-year-old mare, Quiet
Valley Princess (Quiet Valley Moonbeam x What A Flame), consigned by Chester Stoltzfoos and
receiving a high bid of $15,000; Dalens Cool Flash (LVM The Black Ace x GB Superblack
Francine), a five-year-old gelding bringing $13,500 for consignor Ivan Hochstetler, and AJM
Sunrise Black Shadow (LVM The Black Ace x VSB Flytime), a four-year-old gelding who
received a top bid of $12,750 for Joseph Beiler.
This event is always a highlight in the Mid-Atlantic region, and this year’s sale featured a
special seminar, “Building Your Breeding Program,” on Tuesday that brought together three
prominent Morgan breeders—Al Davison of Derawnda Morgan Farms, Gerald Yoder of
Morningstar Morgan Farm, and Earl Yoder of Sand Ridge Stables. These three men shared their
knowledge and experience, and answered questions from eager attendees, covering topics from
desirable traits to choosing your crosses, and how different bloodlines have influenced the
industry.
The sale management offered thanks to the consignors and agents for bringing such a top
notch, quality group of stallions and sale horses in 2026. Mark your calendars for January 19-20,
2027, to attend the next Mid-Atlantic Morgan Sale.
