ASHBA Special Release
Friday, March 22, 2024
The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) is extending the National and National Amateur Futurity weanling nomination deadline until May 1, 2024. The nomination form can be found HERE.
The decision to extend the deadline is due to the uncertainty around the location for the classes in 2024. As stated previously, all ASHBA Prize Program participants sign nomination forms subscribing to the rules of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), in addition to classes being subject to USEF judging specifications, USEF drug testing and being held at a show recognized by USEF.
The Kentucky State Fair Board’s (KSFB) decision to drop USEF and choose another governing body for the World’s Championship Horse Show (WCHS) has put ASHBA in direct conflict with its own Prize Program rules. ASHBA still hopes for a mutually agreeable resolution with the KSFB, but will seek an alternate location for the classes if no agreement is reached with the KSFB.
As always, ASHBA remains committed to its membership and the breed we love. We will continue to provide updates on this evolving situation. We encourage our members to continue to communicate their concerns with the KSFB.
Sincerely,
Allen Bosworth, President
David Mount, Executive Director
