UPHA Open Gate Learning Center Registration Deadline August 9th

Don't forget to register for the UPHA Open Gate Learning Center at the Kentucky State Fair World's Championship Horse Show by tomorrow, August 9th.

This on-site study and learning center is for young equestrians competing at the World's Championship Horse Show in Louisville, Kentucky.

The center offers academic support to equestrian student-athletes in grades 5-12 who are away from their local schools during competitions. It provides a structured learning environment supervised by a professional teacher. The teacher assists with tasks such as clarifying assignments, proofreading work, proctoring tests, and answering student questions. The center also collaborates with the student's school teachers to guide their academic activities while they are away. Additionally, the center accepts assignments, PowerPoint notes, outlines, etc. from teachers during the competition.

The program runs from Monday, August 19th to Saturday, August 24th. It's free for UPHA members, thanks to a donation from Barbara Goodman Manilow. Non-UPHA members can participate for a fee of $200. To get involved, students need to complete an application before the show. Space is limited, and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The deadline for applications is Friday, August 9, 2024.

For any questions, you can contact Debbie Murphy at 804-366-9455 or email [email protected].
